Quinta do Poço das Romeiras

The landscape architecture project for Quinta do Poço dos Romeiras set out to retain its rural character, while introducing some artistic elements using mainly water and plants.

The proposals were drawn up in line with the client’s main goal of improving an area of around 3,000 m2 at the western end of the estate, which is often soaked in brackish water. After that a wooded area was introduced to break up the view of the road which is to be widened at the property’s western border. The client also favoured the expansion of the organic vegetable garden which became an aesthetic element within the estate.

The project calls for the rationalisation of the hydraulic system and the building of paths linking the various points of interest (water tanks, woods, entrance). It uses popular architecture materials and structures such as slate and whitewashed plaster, benches and flower boxes, local stone struts and small water storage tanks were set up in various places on the estate.
